Ophelia

Ophelia, if you were the only one
I couldn't let you go and leave me on the run
well, I ain't teasing you, you see I've broken many hearts
but I had no idea until it was my own
my own, my only one
Well, now I'm needing you, much more than I ever had
I went missing all the good, focused on the bad
and I ain't feeling this, see I'm not used to being wrong
and now I'm left out on my own here with this song
on my own, but you're my own, my only one
Now that I've felt your fist upon me, and seen my body in grave
well I've got nothing but kind words left to say
You let your rain pour all down on me, and your dreams left in the haze
Oh Ophelia, I know that we've seen better days
but you're my own, you're my own, my only one

Pillars
03:33

If you were listening to me when you left this town
ignoring all the signs when the sun went down
the sky got hazy and the clouds went gray
like the tear on your cheek when you turned away
'cause you were right dear, getting on the train
and I was right there, standing in the rain
and it was right near, where I asked you to stay
but you were wrong dear, ever listening to me
You'd been listening to me from the younger days
when your eyes became smoke and the pillars gave way
you only get one chance with the words you say
you can try to take them back, but it's not the same
'cause you were right dear, getting on the train
when I was right there, standing in the rain
and it was right near, where I asked you to stay
but you were wrong dear, ever listening to me

Cedars

And so you held the light
in the palm of your hand
where I could understand
that it was more like a door
as we settled on the floor
And you returned in my dreams
sewn back together with a flame
at the broken seams
and your face remains new
like when I wore your old shoes
And so I'll play that harp
even though some troubled notes
will always tend
to ring a little sharp
I can try and try again
but it'll always sound the same
And now I know that doberman's bark
can sound like the scraping
of train wheels on the iron in the dark
we'll scratch our sticks along the fence
and try to blame it all on them
So I built a fire from your heart

If I told you the story of how you were born
would it make any difference?
If I told you those words,
that you long to hear,
would it make any difference?
Make you want to turn around
and come back home
make you want to change direction
maybe pick up the phone

Two Ghosts
03:12
|

Walking between cracks
in the concrete
with the shuffling leaves
at your feet
as you held my hand
and walked the land
I breathed no air ever so sweet
and with each passing cloud
you called them out
as we had left them all behind us
with that increasing gust
it's swing or bust
when you laugh, in the wind
and we sing- whoa!
It's the same old sights
I don't want to lose the chance
I want the rights, not just a glance
and we hadn't a clue
about the rocks in your shoes
no wonder you had settled down
and that gentle moon
had appeared so soon
we felt the day growing cold
well, this summer's over
and soon you will be old
but you will always be worth it
yes, you will always be perfect

Angelfire
03:14
|
|||
The silence
of black winged birds
hit me like left hooks
out on the ocean floor
in a balance
where I gave all my heart to this work
anything else would just be a joke
My fear
is the only thing that runs me
with this heavy weight on my shoulders
I can't wait to get home where you love me
it's the only thing that I'm worth
The sirens
sang with justice
luring me into shoveling coal
at the Angelfire cross tracks
where I traded my soul for this work
anything else would just be a joke
My fear
is the only thing that runs me
with this heavy weight on my shoulders
I can't wait to get home where you love me
it's the only thing that I'm worth

Rivets

When I came down from that oak tree
spitting blood from my mouth as it leaked to the sea
the only proof was in the roots, that's all I ever heard
and I only intend to haunt this place with my words,
my whispered words
When I came back from that cold war
I did not expect to see what the sun held in store
I'd be listening to chants that I kept in my pocket
stashing a knife inside my boot, with your picture in my lock-
With you in my locket
When I came back from that dark water
I was telling tall tales like some renaissance minstrel
of how the fields were left untouched, and they still held their worth
but crying bullets from the sky still won't ever work
no, it just won't work...
And when I saw your face from that splattered mud,
I imagined you were born with that wild swift love
there were daisies in your name, and rivets in your heart
I should've known that it was over right from the start,
right from the start...

Everything At Once
04:31
|
|||
As we were dancing on the shore
the flames in stone filled our open wounds
gazing beyond a distant door
where we may one day meet again soon
when we were younger in our dreams
casting our nets into the tide
nothing and all was what it seemed
treading water with a gemini
we are darkness
we are everything at once
and we are falling into an emptiness of
all that ever was
we are lightness
we are nothing if not for love
when we feel the calling to an energy
in the stars all up above
There'll always be words that were left unsaid
always be things that were left undone
years go on, we try to move ahead
growing stronger as we overcome
someday these cold, cold, hearts will mend
'til then I'm throwing caution into the void
on the outskirts, around the bend
you'll find me in the quiet, making noise
cause we are darkness
we are everything at once
and we are falling into emptiness of all that ever was
and we are lightness
we are nothing if not for love
when we feel the calling
to an energy in the stars all up above

The Neighborhood
04:49
|
|||
I want to believe
I want savage love
but you won't admit it
even if, your hand fits the glove
did you want to entrust?
on this broken shore
because you won't believe it
when some, can never not want more
So can we just leave?
when we're tangled up in guns
because who could've predicted this?
when it's the same as all the other ones
you want to claim to protect
serving ain't no good
when that little paper makes the world go round
well now there goes the neighborhood
And so we cling to this illusion
never wanting a cross to bear, or never come undone
and so we go on existing on this little blue beautiful earth
maybe never to find a reason
but what if we weren't meant to search?
and maybe some just don't realize,
but as far as we know, what it's worth
we're on the most incredible planet, in our universe
Sometimes you just need to be reminded
